In view of the state government’s decision to enforce provisions of Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) which prohibits strikes in the health services, the association of the government doctors said that it would take the final call on the proposed strike soon.
Following the threat of strike given by the Provincial Medical Health Services (PMHS)- the mighty association of the doctors of the state health services, the state government swung into action on Sunday and decided to enforce ESMA in the health department.
Talking to The Pioneer, the president PMHS, Dr D P Joshi said that association is not in the least perturbed by the ESMA threat the state government is dangling about. “We are bothered about the services to the patients. I am now in Delhi and on my return, we will discuss the issue in the working committee of the association and take the final call on the proposed strike,” he said.
Notably, PMHS is demanding the pending demand of uniform implementation of Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme be accepted without further delay. The doctors further are for the transfer order of general secretary of PMHS be revoked. They are also vociferous on meetings of Departmental Promotion Committee ( DPC) be held twice a year. The PMHS is also demanding vehicle allowance be given to the doctors.
On the call given by PMHS, all the doctors of state health services registered their protest by donning black arm bands over the past one week.
