Govt doctors to continue with 2-hour boycott

Published on:

In a decision which would prolong the plight of patients visiting the Government health facilities, the agitating Provincial Medical Health Services (PMHS), the association of Government doctors, has decided to continue its two-hour work boycott programme.  The PMHS is on a war path with the state government on the issue of Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP).

The association had earlier declared that the doctors would be on a work boycott from 9 AM to 11 AM from February 01 to 06. On Sunday the working committee of the PMHS met and decided that since no concrete step is taken by the state government on their demand the two hour work boycott programme would continue till February 11.

The state President of the PMHS, Dr S K Goswami told The Pioneer that since no step was taken by the state government to address the issue of DACP, it was decided to continue the two hour work boycott. It is learnt that many members of the PMHS are of the view that the doctors should go on a complete strike to put a pressure on the state government but others are in favor of giving some time to the government.

The PMHS is of the view that there should not be two types of laws for the same cadre of doctors in the state health services. The state government had implemented the DACP last year but restricted it those joining the state health services in and after the year 2015. The serving doctors are agitated on the issue and are on a path of agitation.
