Published on:

Get ill on the Diwali and the day after at your own peril. The Government doctors of the State have decided to remain away from the OPD duties on October 19 and 20.

The association of Government doctors of the State, the Provincial Medical Health Services (PMHS) has decided that the doctors would not perform OPD duties on Diwali. The association, however, has decided to do the emergency and post mortem duties on these days. It is worth mentioning here that OPDs of all hospitals of the State remain open for half a day on the day of Diwali. The association of doctors has also decided not to attend patients in OPD on the national holidays.

The general secretary of the PMHS, Dr Naresh Napalchiyal said the association had informed about its decision to the State administration and the health directorate.

This decision of the doctors would affect the patients during the ensuing festival season. On the Diwali day and a day later many patients visit the hospitals of the state. Many of these patients are burn cases. Many patients also complain respiratory problems during this time of the year.
