The State Government dissolved MKP (PG) College management committee as its members failed to execute their duties as per rules. Dehradun District Magistrate BVRC Purushottam was appointed the authorised administrator of the college until the formation of new college management committee.
Following this decision, the college non-teaching staff union has called off its strike on Wednesday. However, MKP College society secretary Jitendra Singh Negi alleged that the State administration has taken this decision under pressure from local Congress leaders. He criticised the district administration for sealing office of MKP College society, Mahadevi Institute of Technology’s account office and hostel office even though the State administration has dissolved only MKP (PG) College management committee not the MKP College society.
College non-teaching staff reached the college and greeted each other on the dissolution of the college management committee. According to them, due to autocratic attitude of the college management committee, academic atmosphere in the college had been adversely affected in the last one year.
The college non-teaching staff union president HS Rana said that the union has decided to call off its protest as Government dissolved college management committee and their demands will be addressed soon.
According to him, DM appointed SDM Ranjana Verma as authorised administrator. Verma reached the college and addressed the union members saying that as per rule, she would execute her duties and all the possible steps will be taken by her to create conducive atmosphere for education in the college. She assured union members that their salaries will be released soon. Rana further said that Verma also inspected different offices in the college and sealed the office of MKP College society, Mahadevi Institute of Technology’s account office and hostel office.
Meanwhile, Negi said that the meeting of MKP College management committee has been called up on Friday to discuss this issue.
