Several areas of Dehradun reeled under prolonged power cuts on Tuesday purportedly resulting from measures taken by the authorities to ensure power supply sans disruption to the area where President Pranab Mukherjee will be staying during this 3-day visit to Uttarakhand.
The areas that were without power for a long time
included Dilaram Chowk, Raipur, Sahastradharara and those around East Canal
Road.
The people alleged that they were suffering with the power department diverting power from the local power stations to Rashtrapati Ashiyana where the President is staying. However, UPCl officials denied the charge.
An official of UPCl, PC Dhyani said that they had received no report of power cuts from anywhere in Dehradun till 4.30 pm on Tuesday. However, he added that local snags might have caused power cuts in
some areas.
