The 70th Independence Day was observed with gaiety at the Vidhan Sabha. Uttarakhand Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal hoisted the national flag at the Vidhan Sabha campus to mark the 70th Independence Day on Monday.
In his address, Kunjyal said that they had got freedom following the valiant saga of their ancestors’ relentless struggle to free the country from the yoke of the British Raj. “We should work with honesty and integrity to save the freedom the country has won. This would amount to our true tribute to the freedom fighters,” he said.
He appealed to the Government officers and citizens at large to work with honesty and responsibility. “Everyone of us whatever position we hold should execute our work with honesty and sincerity,” the Speaker said.
He further appealed to the people of the State to rise above the regionalism and casteism. “Our country has progressed in each area. But things are still lacking in the many areas. We must rise to the occasion to fill the lacking,” he stressed.
Vidhan Sabha secretary Jagdish Chandra and security officer Pradeep Kumar Gunwant were among the officers and present on the occasion.
