While welcoming the children who gathered at Raj Bhavana on Wednesday to celebrate Phool Dei, Governor Dr KK Paul in his address said that Phool Dei was a unique festival of Uttarakhand. like all our festivals, it helped the Indian culture thrive through millennia. Festivals in India, he said, were linked to the seasons and conveyed to the new generations the message which our festivals and traditions embody.
The folk festival of Phool Dei is celebrated in Uttarakhand at the beginning of the month of Chaitra and gives the message of cherishing and protecting nature. Children who play an important role in this festival get familiarized with the spirit of the festival from their childhood.
The Governor congratulated Shashi Bhushan Maithani and “Rangoli Andolan” ( the organizers of the programme) for the efforts to keep alive the folk traditions of the state.
