Governor Qureshi inaugurates painting exhibition dedicated to disaster victims

Published on:

Uttarakhand Governor Dr Aziz Qureshi inaugurated a painting exhibition organised by “Abhivyakti School of Art and Craft” in Dehradun on Sunday.

Titled “Samvedna”, the exhibition is dedicated to those who died in the disaster and those who have been affected by it. The organizers said that the money obtained from the sales of paintings would be given for the help of disaster affected families. In his address on the occasion, Dr Qureshi said that painters could well express their emotions on canvas.

He said it was unfortunate that artistes/painters were not given their due in India. It was the responsibility of the people and the establishment to encourage artistes to enable them to evoke the sensitivity of society. He never missed any opportunity of meeting writers, painters and musicians. The governor gave away certificates to 35 artistes including three children.
