On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Uttarakhand Governor Dr Aziz Qureshi and Chief Minister Harish Rawat have greeted all the teachers of the State. Teacher's day being celebrated every year on the birth anniversary of the former president Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. In his message, Dr Qureshi said that teachers or 'Gurus' in our country have been given the highest place in our society since ancient times. These days the role of the teachers was extremely challenging as there was more stress on information than on knowledge. Teachers would have to develop in their students qualities like curiosity for knowledge, originality, compassion, generosity and patience. A good teacher could instill confidence and values in a student which would help him greatly in facing any challenge throughout his or her life.  Expressing the hope that all teachers would fulfil their responsibility with dedication, the Governor conveyed his gratitude towards all teachers who gave new direction to lives. In his message addressed to the teachers, CM Rawat said that the teachers had played an important role in character formation of youngsters as well as in making them responsible citizens. They showed youngsters the path to a bright future. The country has been able to develop systematically only because of contributions by teachers. The State had high expectations of its teachers for educational development.
