Uttarakhand Governor Krishan Kant Paul attended the 15th foundation day of the Indian Public School at Ranjhawala in Dehradun on Monday. On the occasion, the Governor inaugurated the Vivekanand student activity centre at the school. Speaking on the occasion Paul said that the main aim of education is to develop the character of children. It is the character which makes a person great. Calling Swami Vivekananda a great thinker and philosopher, the governor exhorted the students present on the occasion to imbibe his teachers and follow the tenets laid down by him.

The governor said, “Children spend more time in the school. It is the responsibility of the teachers to ensure that along with modern education, the students are also made aware of our culture and traditional values so that along with modernization, they also remain connected to their roots. The children should be taught from the start about the Indian civilization, its rich cultural heritage and moral values of life. This will ensure that along with the modern aspects of education, the children also remain aware of human values,” said the governor.

On the occasion, the governor also viewed an exhibition of paintings made by the school children and appreciated the cultural presentations staged by the students.  The IPS chairman Ravindra Kishore Sinha along with the faculty and students of the school were among those present on the occasion.
