Uttarakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya teed off to inaugurate the 17th Governor’s Golf Cup Tournament 2019 at the Raj Bhawan golf course here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that it was matter of happiness that players were interested in the golf tournament This year 126 players had registered themselves for the tournament.
Indian Golf Association and Uttarakhand Golf are working together to promote the golf which is also helping to promote tourism in the district and State.
She said that this golf tournament would also help in establishing the identity of Uttarakhand as a special tourist spot at national and international levels.
Inter school tournament has also been organised for school students to promote golf, she added.To showcase the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand a cultural evening will also be held on Saturday at Raj Bhawan.
Winners of this three-day tournament will be awarded on May 26. After the Governor's Cup, a junior-sub junior national competition will be hosted by Raj Bhawan Golf course.The governor’s secretary Ramesh Kumar Sudhanshu and other officials concerned were also among those present on the occasion.
