The Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay has directed party spokespersons to give befitting replies to statements being made by the BJP. Upadhyay in the presence of the State party co-in-charge Sanjay Kapoor, also held a meeting with PCC office bearers and party department heads in the Congress Bhawan.
Addressing the meeting, Upadhyay said, “Expanding our organisation at the booth level in all the 70 Assembly constituencies is our foremost priority. The Congress cadre will work strongly to ensure that those talking about a Congress-free India are routed out of Uttarakhand in the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections. In the near future, two large party workers’ training camps will be held in the State. Thirty to 40 ground level party workers from each of the 70 Vidhan Sabha constituencies will be trained in these camps. Central leaders of the party will visit during the training camps while the AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi will be invited for the conclusion of the training workshop. Similarly, the Mahila Congress will also organise big events in Garhwal and Kumaon regions.”
The PCC chief averred, “Getting anxious due to the popularity of the Congress State Government, BJP leaders are leveling wild accusations at the State Government. We have to give a befitting reply to the BJP’s allegations. As the Congress had won 36 seats in the 2002 Vidhan Sabha polls under the leadership of Harish Rawat to form a majority government, similarly, the Congress will be able to cross the 36-seats mark in the 2017 Assembly polls due to the hard work and dedication of party workers to form a government under Harish Rawat as the chief minister,” said Upadhyay.
Addressing the gathering, the party State co in charge Sanjay Kapoor said that both the party organisation and Congress-led State Government are working hard. The party is making the organisation stronger at the booth level by sending observers. Kapoor said, “If we raise our party workers at the booth level, the Congress is sure to achieve a resounding victory in the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections. The assembly results of Uttarakhand will prove successful in giving a new direction to national politics,” he opined.
