Union Minister of State for micro, small and medium enterprises Giriraj Singh on Wednesday asked Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to clear his stand on Shashi Tharoor comparing Kanhaiya Kumar (facing sedition charges) with martyr Bhagat Singh during his recent visit to Jawaharlal lal Nehru University campus. He said Shashi had insulted the martyr  and the Congress must clear its stance on the matter.

“Rahul Gandhi must take a stance as he is lending support to Kanhaiya Kumar,” he said.

In an answer to a question posed by mediapersons to the Minister, he said, “Rahul Gandhi met with Kanhiya Kumar for an hour and the  Indians owe him an explanation for the one hour meeting he had with Kanhiya Kumar who is accused of sedition. Gandhi must clear what he had discussed with Kumar,”  affirmed Giriraj.

The Minister alleged that Congress has been promoting anti-national elements to make things difficult for Narendra Modi Government. “But every worker of Bharatiya Janata Party will fight it tooth and nail. Ours is a party based on the principle of sacrifice as far as the larger interests of the nation are concerned,”  he said.

Speaking of the crisis facing the Uttarakhand Government, Giriraj defended his party’s stand. “The Congress’s rebel MlAs have joined hands with BJP of their own accord. We did not provoke the legislators to revolt. They were feeling cheated inside their party,” he added.

On promotion of Khadi, the Union Minister said, “We are trying to connect Khadi with the young generation so that they choose Khadi. It will help to revive the Khadi industry.” The Minister also said that the Government is taking ample measures towards strengthening the micro industries, focused on improving the quality of Khadi.
