Chief minister Harish Rawat has directed all district magistrate to ensure necessary arrangements are made to deal with the situation in case of heavy rain. Holding a video-conference with the DMs, Rawat said they should conduct random inspection of sector and zonal magistrates at their posting sites. Speedy reopening of blocked roads should be ensured with special focus on Yatra routes.

All DMs should issue bulletins from time to time on the weather forecast, present status and condition of roads. Rawat was informed that all roads are open in Uttarkashi district while the Chamoli district magistrate and SP are camping at Joshimath. The Rudraprayag DM said that as a precaution, those on the Kedarnath pilgrimage have been halted at secure locations. A couple of roads are blocked in Pithoragarh while in Bageshwar district the situation is under control though the water level in the Sarayu river has risen.
