Diwali approaching near, Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Nivedita Kukreti has asked police to raise guard while identifying sensitive places and deploying forces to stop crimes like chain snatching.
While reviewing things on Friday, she said that the places where the people throng in large number must be identified as crimes like chain snatching happen there. PAC jawans should be deployed for intensive patrolling, she said.
She also cautioned the police officers over possibility of fire incidents happening during the festive time. “We must be on our guard to see to it that the firecrackers are sold only from the designated places. Under no circumstances would we allow fire crackers to be sold in the congested and narrow places,” she said.
She also sounded disappointed over road accidents happening in the city at regular intervals. “Rash and drunk driving must be stopped at any cost. We should slap penalties on the errant vehicles. We must keep vigilance regarding buses and vikrams, in particular. The police officers concerned would meet the bus and vikram operators and ask them to ensure that the drivers follow the traffic rules,” she said.
SSP further asked police control personnel to be vigilant on the suspicious elements while monitoring the CCTV camera footages. She stressed on vehicle checking drives to check illegal mining.
