The modern swine flu laboratory at Mahant Indiresh hospital can simultaneously test 100 samples and patients can get reports in 3-6 hours said the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Vinay Rai while addressing media persons here on Friday.
He said that the laboratory would be first in the State to have the facility of testing the samples of Swine Flu (H1N1) by which the patients of the region would get benefited. The lab is set up as per the guidelines laid down by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi. The Medical Superintendent (MS) said that the hospital has treated more than 200 swine flu patients in this year alone.
The in-charge of swine flu laboratory, Dr Narottam Sharma said that machine is ultramodern based on RTPCR technique and the samples of suspected patients of swine flu would be reported within hours by it.
The state of the art lab was inaugurated by then state health minister, Surendra Singh Negi on October 19 last year but unfortunately the laboratory took a long time of more than five months to get all the necessary clearances from Government. Surprisingly the State Health department sat over all important clearance for quite some time.
