A student of art from Germany, a member of a volunteer group that created playgrounds for children at Vikasnagar and at Nanhi Dunya here, wants to utilize art with a difference. Wendla has already gone a step forward, helping her friends in making the playground.
Idea to utilize art in a different way struck her mind around a year back when her friend Valentine Sagvosdlin asked her to help in raising fund for preparing playground for the children. She not only accepted the proposal but also expressed will to help in preparing design for the playgrounds, using her creativity.
Wendla along with her friend and other volunteers visited Dehradun where the two beautiful grounds have come up. She along with other volunteers, who are also from Germany, created the playgrounds, using clay and woods. "I want to make use of my skill in a creative way. Wherever I would get a chance, I would use it," she said.
She never thought that her subject could also be used in making grounds. But now it is a reality.
"Using art for the cause of children is a different experience. I can not explain it. Children are innocent and if my little effort can make them smile, I would do it. When children at Nanhi Dunya saw the playground constructed by us, they all smiled," she said.
Now she is on a changed mission that will certainly be dedicated to children. Valentine, team leader of the volunteer group, accepts the fact. "Her creativity helped us a lot in construction of the playground. Hope, she would keep helping us," Valentine S said, adding that he decided to build up playgrounds for children three years ago when he visited India. He observed that the he wants to create playground for children across the world with the help of volunteers as it helped in complete grown of children.
"Children enjoy free playing a lot. So I feel that children should be made available beautifully decorated playgrounds. And all of us should contribute in it," he said. He added that he raised fund for the construction of the playgrounds in Germany with the help of his friends who also supported him in a great way. "Now play grounds are a reality as a result of cooperation of my friends who worked hard. I want to make some more playgrounds for the children," he said.
Nanhi Dunya's chief promoter Kiran Ulfat Goel thanked the volunteers for constructing playgrounds for the children. The volunteers danced to the tunes of Holi. They also applied Gulal and extended Holi greetings with one another on the occasion. Children of Nanhi Dunya also presented a colorful show.
