General elections: Khanduri to act as per high command's instruction

Published on:

The uncertainly over whether next general elections is going to be contested under the supervision of former Chief Minister Maj Gen (Retd) BC Khanduri continues as Khanduri said that he will strictly follow the party high command’s instruction for the next general elections.

He said that the purpose of the party is to win all five lok Sabha seats instead of falling into the prey of wrangling that would certainly dent the image of the party in the upcoming general elections which is slated to take place in the next year.

While addressing the mediapersons in a press conference held at State party office in Dehradun on Thursday, Khanduri charged the Congress led-State Government of indulging in politics at the cost of human suffering in disaster-ravaged Uttarakhand.

After expressing his concern that the condition of roads in the higher parts of the State is worst, Khanduri demanded from the Congress led State Government that to immediately sanction funds for carrying repair works in the higher parts of the State. He said the condition of national highway in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand would have been much better if the State Government had sanctioned funds for repairing works.

While highlighting about his experience in his recent tour in the Kumaon division of the State, Khanduri said that the condition of the roads is equally worst in the division with Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts are among the worst affected as roads are badly damaged in the region. He said the higher parts of the State are facing the acute shortage of food grains.

Khanduri alleged that Uttarakhand is facing the political instability due to lack of vision of the State Government as most of the MlAs are busy making their presence felt at party high in New Delhi. Khanduri said instead of resuming rituals at Kedarnath shrine of Uttarakhand, the State Government should draft concrete steps for repairing and rebuilding the planned structure in case, the disaster strikes again in the near future.

He expressed concern over the economic instability in the country.

Congress rubbishes charges, says providing help to disaster affected

Reacting against the BJP’s allegation, Uttarakhand Congress spokesperson Shilpi Arora has outrightly rejected the allegation and said that Congress-led State Government is making all effort to provide succour to the disaster affected families of the state.

Following on the instruction of chief minister, cabinet minister and chief secretary have made several tours in disaster affected areas to review the situation so whatever allegations were made by the former chief minister Maj Gen BC Khanduri is completely baseless. As we know resumption of prayer in Kedarnath temple is associated with faith of billions so state government is making all effort to resume. Now state government is adamant to resume the prayer there by September 11.
