On the demand of implementation of Supreme Court (SC) order on promotions the employees belonging to general category of State have started an agitation. Under the banner of Adhikari Karamchari Shikshak Sangharsh Morcha (AKSSM), Uttarakhand the employees belonging to general category upped their ante against the State Government and demanded that it should revert those candidates of reserved category who were given promotions despite being juniors. The AKSSM claims that all the general category employees of State Government would sport black arm bands from September 10 to September 15.
The chief Convener of the AKSSM, D C Nautiyal said that the highest court in a recent decision has quashed the Section 3 (7) and 8 A of the constitution due to which the reservation in promotion is held illegal. He said that the Uttar Pradesh Government has started acting on the order and started reverting the employees who were promoted under this category. Being parent State of Uttarakhand the government of UP has sent the lists of those employees who are coming under the ambit of demotion to the Government of Uttarakhand. Nautiyal said that the Government of Uttarakhand is taking refuge in delay in report of Irshad Hussain committee. He said that after wearing black ribbons for five working days the AKSSM would intensify its agitation.
In wake of Supreme Court ruling on reservation in promotions the State Government had set up a commission headed by retired judge of High Court Irshad Hussain on September 2012 since then the State Government is giving
regular extension to the
committee.
