The 104th Kisan Mela will be held at the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) from October 5 to 8. The university’s vice chancellor and Kumaon commissioner Rajiv Rautela held a meeting with the Kisan Mela advisory committee members to review preparations for the event.

Rautela said that works done by the agriculture and related departments connected to agriculture and farmers should also be displayed in the exhibition. Successful farmers should also be accorded a platform to share their experiences with other farmers. The vice chancellor said that the Kisan Mela will be considered successful if the farmers get to learn something new in it. He further directed that senior scientists should also be present at the various stalls to be set up by the university so that they can satisfy the curiosity of farmers and other visitors. Speeches and discussions with the farmers should be held in Hindi to easily communicate ideas and knowledge, he suggested. He also issued necessary directions for sign boards, map of the venue, identification cards for scientists and personnel, adequate health facility, security and proper publicity of the Kisan Mela to ensure its success. In the meeting, the heads of various committees formed for the Kisan Mela also informed Rautela about their respective preparations.
