The GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) director of administration, Dr Ashish Srivastav has issued orders for removal of illegal constructions from the campus by April 15.
Taking serious cognisance of illegal constructions by university employees and others in the university colony, blocks and market area, the university administration had some days ago pasted notices informing the public about planned demolition of illegal constructions and shacks.
Some of the encroachments were also demolished by the university administration but most of the illegal constructions and shacks were not removed. However, now the university administration has started taking measurements and marking the illegal constructions and shacks with red markers.
In addition to this, the encroachers have been given time up to April 15 to remove the illegal constructions on their own. If they fail to remove the encroachments on their own till the given deadline, the same will be demolished by the administration.
The expenditure which will be incurred on the demolition will be charged from the encroacher. In addition to this, disciplinary action will also be taken against university employees found guilty of illegal construction. Officials also informed that as part of measures to improve the level of on-campus security, CCTV cameras will be installed in the girl’s hostel after which the entire campus will be brought under CCTV camera surveillance.
