Self-respect, confidence in the self and fearlessness are attributes, which if combined with dedication and hard work make sure that the target is achieved. The GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology Vice-Chancellor, Dr Mangal Rai said this while speaking at a programme organised by the university to mark Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary at national youth day here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the vice-chancellor said, “The youth of today are literate but in the absence of contemplation they do not tend to be knowledgeable. Nowadays the youth does not have access to such an environment where they can integrate with their self with a mind at peace. A person is sure to achieve the chosen target with sincere consistent effort backed by dignity, confidence in the self and fearlessness along with hope and faith,” he said. The vice chancellor also exhorted the youth to become their own guru to achieve their self-set goal by forging ahead while facing all types of problems.
Addressing the gathering, the founder of Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) Ramaswami Balasubramanian spoke in detail about Vivekananda’s message. He said, “He had in his message spoken on the importance of self confidence, habit of asking questions, cheerful personality, leading a life with ideals, proactive point of view and to always keep on experimenting among other aspects.”
Sujata Naik from the Vivekananda Centre, Kanyakumari expressed her views on the values of life and morality. She said, “
There is no limit of religion which is the principle of living in unity. We are dependent on each other, linked and related to each other. We also have to give back what we are receiving from the society,” she said.
Swami Chinmayananda from Ramkrishna Mission, Haridwar and officials of the university among others were also present on the occasion.
