As lakhs of people from various parts of the country are thronging Haridwar on the occasion of Kanwar Mela, supply of gas cylinders from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) bottling plants to Dehradun will be adversely affected.
IOC officials have decided to send gas cylinders across the State from bottling plants based in Kashipur in Uttar Pradesh and Karnal in Haryana.
IOC Deputy Manager (lPG Uttarakhand) Dhirendra Kumar said that the Corporation had decided during an inter-departmental meeting held recently to improve supply of gas cylinders during Kanwar Mela to meet the demands of consumers of Garhwal and Kumaon divisions.
He further said the meeting also decided that truck loaded with cylinders will be supplied from Kashipur Patting bottling plant and Karnal bottling plant. However, the supply of cylinders from Haridwar and Haldwani would continue depending on the State of vehicular movement, given Kanwar Mela.
Kumar said as of now, there was no shortage of supply of cylinders from Haridwar and Haldwani bottling plants. Around 50-55 truck loaded with cylinders are being supplied from these bottling plants each to Garhwal and Kumaon region.
The IOC officials will be in touch with district administrative officers and police officers to facilitate the truck drivers if they face traffic jam due to the streaming Kanwarias, he added.
