Garhwal varsity non-teaching staff on agitation mode

The HNB Garhwal Central University Non-Teaching Staff Association started its agitation in support of their pending demand from Monday and due to the work boycott by the non teaching staff and daily wagers, the work of the university has been affected. The association has stressed that the agitation will continue till the demands are met.

Garhwal Central University Non teaching Staff Association president Rajendra Singh Bhandari alleged that despite the written assurance of the vice chancellor Prof SP Singh to fulfill the demands like regularisation of daily wage staff, promotion of employees, confirmation of employees and others, the university administration has not taken any steps for the last many months in order to meet these demands.

The non teaching staff and the daily wagers were forced to start the agitation by the inefficient and apathetic stance of the university administration. Bhandari pointed out that the association had gone on agitation in the previous year and this year in April. However, the agitations were withdrawn following written assurances from the university administration about meeting the demands of the workers.

“However, now as the university administration has continued to remain inactive in spite of giving us assurance, we have been forced to again agitate due to the indifferent attitude of the university administration. We will continue our agitation unless our demands are met or until we receive a proactive response from the administration,” he stressed.

The university’s Daily Wages Employees Association president Kamlesh Naithani said that the employees have been struggling to get their genuine demands met for some years now.

“Due to the protracted apathy of the university administration, none of our demands has been met so far by the vice chancellor,” he said, while adding that nearly all 400 employees are boycotting the office work in the agitation and this will continue till a positive response is received from the administration.
