Kargil Victory Day was celebrated as Shaurya Diwas with much enthusiasm in Garhwal Rifles regimental centre at lansdowne and elsewhere in Pauri on Sunday.
At the district headquarter Pauri, students and NCC cadets staged a rally to the Collectorate where the district soldier welfare office and district administration organised a programme to mark the occasion.
The officiating district magistrate Sonika felicitated Kargil martyr soldier Kuldeep Singh’s mother Kamala Devi and martyr Nayak Dharam Singh’s widow Anusuya Devi.
Speaking on the occasion, she exhorted the NCC cadets to follow the footsteps of the brave soldiers who had fought and even sacrificed their lives for the motherland. SDM Pl Shah, district soldier welfare office Major Karan Rawat, NCC commandant Colonel Ashish and ex servicemen were also present on the occasion.
