With the rise in temperature, various areas of the state are facing acute shortage of drinking water. Jal Sansthan officials are monitoring the situation and water is being provided to the localities through water tanks. People have been appealed to register their complaint on toll free number 1800-180-4100 and appropriate action including deployment of official would be taken to find out the solution, said the Jal Sansthan chief general manager S K Gupta on Tuesday.
He further said that 410 complaints related to water supply, low water current from water sources, pipe line damages among others have been reported over the past few days from several localities of the sate. “Out of 410 such complaints, 201 were reported on Saturday itself. Of them, 187 complaints have been solved and the rest is being solved,” he added.
An officer of Jal Sansthan northern division said that a around 40 complaints has been received from different areas of the city on Tuesday and subsequently water tankers have been sent to several localities like Doon Vihar and Jagriti Vihar to provide water to the residents.
Meanwhile, residents from Chirowali, Badriyal Goan and Kuthal Gate have registered complaint of the force of the water supply coming down. An officer said that this is due to water level of the sources depleting due to the summer heat. He further assured that the problems are being resolved.
Ramesh, resident of Sahastradhara, said that the supply line has developed cracks, yielding several litres of water on the road every day.
“Though it is well-known that of the total amount of water generated in the city, nearly 20 percent goes waste in leakages, which is a big reason for supply shortage. But unfortunately, Jal Sansthan is not doing much to repair the leakages. They should take immediate action and consider installing new pipelines,” he said.
