Gangster Rathi plotted Bhura's escape?

Published on:

If sources are to be believed, gangster Sunil Rathi, who is now languishing in Pauri jail, had allegedly drafted the plan for Amit Malik alias Bhura's escape from police custody in Baghpat while being lodged in the jail along with a Delhi-based gangster Neeraj Bawana through a cell phone.

Rathi might have informed Bhura about the details of the meticulously drafted plan through a visitor, who had met him in the jail a few days before the escape. The police had recovered Baghpat's map from Suddhowala jail, which buttresses the assumption. If it is believed, the efficiency of the jail administration is in question. The alleged involvement of some of the jail officials in the infamous escape has seriously affected the reputation of Uttarakhand Police.

Now, it is to be seen how the newly-appointed IG (jail) PVK Prasad keeps a check on the alleged nexus between some jail officials and inmates. Moreover, the investigation has brought to light the fact that Neeraj, nephew of an ex-MlA from Delhi, kept on operating a gang known as Bawana gang specialising in extortion in the States like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Uttarakhand. Recently, the police had arrested a gangster named Arvind Rohila, a member of Bawana gang, from Delhi who helped Bhura to elude police using several hideouts in Haryana and other places.

However, acting jointly with the police from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand Police has arrested six criminals so far, who were allegedly involved in the escape. However, Bhura is still elusive despite several attempts to catch the notorious fugitive.  During interrogation, Ravi had disclosed names of 16 criminals supposedly involved in the escape. Out of this 16, six - Samar Pal, Babi Tomar, Prince Kumar, Mohammad Gauri alias Mohammad Saddam, Arvind Rohila and Ravi Kumar- are now behind bars.

State director general of police BS Sidhu said that the arrest of gangster Arvind and Ravi Kumar from Delhi would help them to get to the bottom of the case. Teams are working now to recover another AK-47 rifle and selfloading rifle (SlR) looted from police during the escape, he said.
