The authorities should clamp down on the gambling rackets being operated blatantly in Dehradun district, as such activities facilitate financial assistance to terror activities, said the newly appointed district head of Shiva Sena’s Yuva Sena wing, Avinash Pande, while addressing the media in Dehradun on Sunday.
He said, “Activities like the illegal gambling business in Dehradun district pose an internal threat to the State and nation as the money being made from it is being used to fund terror activities. The State Government should clamp down on such activities effectively. The money being made from the illegal gambling in Dehradun is ending up in western Uttar Pradesh. The Government should conduct investigations in order to ascertain the identity of persons involved in such activities and transfer of the money through hawala and the recipients of this money. It is necessary that the State administration take serious cognisance of such illegal activities. In case members of the public know of illegal gambling operations in their neighbourhood, they should inform the police on 100 in national interest. He also elicited focus on the incidence of substance abuse while stressing on the need for keeping the youth away from the clutches of hard drugs.
