Gaisain saw hike in resources post construction of Vidhan Sabha: Min

Published on:

There has been an increase in resources in Gairsain following the start of construction of the Vidhan Sabha building there, said Cabinet Minister Harak Singh Rawat, adding that there is nothing wrong in the proposed construction of another Vidhan Sabha building in Dehradun.

The statement made by the minister to the media on the sidelines of a workshop here on Friday is being seen as continuation of the political football with contradicting views even within the ruling party on the issue of permanent State capital.

While the BJP accuses the Congress of misguiding the public on the issue of State capital, the ruling party leaders retort that the BJP had itself failed to take action on this issue while heading the State Government.

Rawat said that the construction of the Assembly building in Gairsain had resulted in development but at the same time there is nothing wrong in the proposed construction of another Assembly building in Dehradun.

He also said that political parties indulge in opposition but should not criticise works which have been undertaken by the Government in the interests of the public.

It will be recalled here that in the past, the Assembly speaker GS Kunjwal and Cabinet Minister Indira Hridayesh have expressed contradictory views on the issue of permanent State capital with Kunjwal favouring establishment of the capital in Gairsain.
