The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (Panwar) has opposed the decision to make Gairsain the summer capital of Uttarakhand, demanding that it be made the permanent State capital.
The party media in-charge Manmohan lakhera said that the capital of a mountain State should be in the mountainous region. Making Gairsain the capital would facilitate development in the mountainous regions. The UKD had declared Gairsain the capital in 1992 but successive State Governments formed by national parties have remained apathetic to Gairsain and development in mountainous regions, he said.
