District Monitoring Committee approved Rs 2,366 lakh for the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan for the year 2013-14 and Rs 2,214 lakh for the new plans in the review meeting of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and mid-day meal scheme, organised in district headquarter Pauri.
The meeting was presided over by Pauri MlA Sunder lal Mandrawal in the absence of Garhwal MP Satpal Maharaj.District Education Officer (Basic) YS Chaudhary informed that 1,633 primary schools are in operation, while 67 primary schools with zero students are closed. There are 293 junior high schools and 93 aided schools in the district. Chaudhary said that transport allowance will be given to parents whose wards face difficulties in reaching school.DM Chandresh Kumar instructed officials to make a proposal worth Rs 20 lakh for developing lodging facility.
