In connection with alleged rape case, the special police team has arrested joint secretary (sports and social welfare) Suman Singh Waldia, who had given idea of making CD of alleged rape victim in Nainital police guest house with an intent to supersede additional secretary JP Joshi and secured the same post. With this arrest, the rape case has taken interesting turn on Thursday and sources said few more people will be arrested in connection with this case soon.
Neeraj Chauhan, who has been on police custody for two days has disclosed Waldia's name and based on scientific evidences he was arrested under Section 120 B and other appropriate Sections of IPC, said Director General of Police BS Sidhu while interacting with mediapersons on Thursday.
DGP Sidhu also said that Waldia gave idea of making CD of alleged rape and had made several phone calls to the woman complainant when she was in Nainital police hostel on October 20. Congress leader Ritu Kandiyal had organised a meeting with SS Waldia and JP Joshi. The complainant was known to Waldia for many months.
During investigations, it is revealed that Waldia was not involved in demanding extortion amounting Rs 3 crore from Joshi. Waldia's name was nowhere mentioned by Joshi in the FIR lodged at Basant Vihar.
