Fresh controversy embroils CM; Ajay Bhatt asks Rawat to quit over SBI scam

Published on:

One day left for the counting to be taken up, the state Bharatiya Janata Party chief Ajay Bhatt has fired a fresh salvo at the Harish Rawat government on Thursday while calling the alleged SBI scam as the latest one of the series of scams the state government has got embroiled in. “We are sure that the CM is directly involved in it. So he should quit on moral grounds immediately without waiting for the results to be declared,” he said.

He alleged that an account had been opened at the SBI branch at Neshvilla Road in Dehradun on January 1 that had seen transaction to the tune of crores since. “The account is being operated by a senior personal secretary to CM who was once a state Congress secretary.  This means that the CM is directly involved in the murky transaction. Despite   the account being opened in the name of state Congress committee, it keeps operating by the dictates of the CM. It has nothing to do with either the  state party  president, the state general secretary or the   state party treasurer. This pinpoints how things went on. This also proves the allegation that the CM is running the government and the party by his own whims,” Bhatt said.

He further alleged that mainly the builders, industrialists and some officials of the National Highway Authority of India had deposited money in the account. “It must be probed why they have pumped crores in the account,” the BJP leader said.

“We are worried lest the present dispensation goes for fresh transaction through the account in the coming three/four days till the next government assumes charge,” he added.
