A 24-hour free medical camp instituted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences Rishikesh is proving a major boon to the Kanwad pilgrims who are coming to the holy city to fetch the holy water. The camp has been made near Alaknanda Hotel and it has a team of doctors working in shifts round the clock.
These days, the maximum rush of pilgrims is being witnessed with nearly two crore coming on two-wheelers and tractor trolleys as Dak Kanwads. It is difficult for such pilgrims to get authenticated medical treatment as they come from far-off places without the least knowledge of the location of the city hospitals where they must rush in case of exigencies.
Following the request of CO traffic Dr Manjunath, AIIMS Rishikesh has started this temporary camp.“Till date, hundreds of Kanwadiyas have availed the health benefit here. We do not charge for the medicines from the pilgrims,” said the director AIIMS Professor Ravikant. Cardiac care ambulance of Rishikesh is also made available for 24 hours at the camp so that the patient can be rushed to the hospital, added Ravikant.
The nodal officer of the camp Dr Santosh said, “In the camp, all facilities are available for the patients like ECG, sugar testing, wound dressing and emergency heart attack.” The camp was inaugurated by the District Magistrate Haridwar on Sunday.
