To mark the International Day of People with Disability on Saturday, a city- based organisation Samarth Sewa Samiti would hold free consultation camp for people with special needs in Haridwar. The manager of the organisation Vipul Sharma said that a day- long free camp would be held in Khanna Nagar where  the people with special needs would be given free consultation by physiotherapists, speech therapists and psychologists.

Notably, the International Day of People with Disability is being promoted by United Nations since 1992 to encourage a better understanding of  the people affected by a disability, together with helping to make people more aware of the rights, dignity and welfare of the disabled people.

Speaking to The Pioneer, founder of Samarth Sewa Samiti Poorna Sharma said, “We have been creating awareness for the past nine years to integrate disabled persons into every aspect of life- economic, political, social and cultural. People must understand that these persons have special needs and can be integrated in day- to- day lives.”

Started in 2006 with just five children, Samarth Sewa Samiti school has now become a ray of hope for as many as 30 children.  The children there are learning to make handicraft items.
