Can Protect Foundation organised a free screening camp for breast cancer and prevention at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (Coronation) Hospital in Dehradun on Saturday.
Head of Can Protect Foundation Dr Sumita Prabhakar informed that during the free screening camp organised for the women from the city, the doctors attached to the foundation checked 32 women free of cost. “The screening was done by a team in charge of the task and they also provided detailed information to the women who attended the camp about the causes, symptoms and preventions of breast cancer which is fast spreading its tentacles among the women across the world,” she said.
She further highlighted the alarming fact that every year about 70 thousand women are dying of breast cancer in India alone and the main reason for this is the delay in diagnosis of the disease and subsequent delay in the surgeries required. “We are sure that early detection can prevent the deadly disease from eating its way deep into the body. For early detection, it is imperative that the people must have knowledge of the symptoms ,” she said.
“Our organisation has remained engaged in helping the women with the detailed information about the causes and symptoms of the dreaded disease through organising free camps. We have the privilege of helping nearly 12000 women through such camps up till today. We would continue organising such camps as we deem it as our duty to the country as well as to the women who are vulnerable to the disease,” she said.
She further said that information about the camps organised by the organisation is available at the website www.canprptectfoundation.com.
