A wave of cheer has spread among the supporters of legislator from Haridwar, Madan Kaushik, who has recorded victory for the fourth time by winning from the Haridwar urban Assembly seat and to add the icing to the cake, he has become the only legislator from Haridwar to be included in the State Cabinet.
Out of the 11 Assembly seats in the district, eight were won by candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party and on three seats of Ranipur, Haridwar rural, laksar, BJP had won for the second consecutive term. Swami Yateeshwaranand pinned hopes on becoming cabinet minister having defeated the former state CM Harish Rawat and Ranipur legislator Adesh Chauhan was also in the fray but Madan Kaushik took the icing of the cake, getting the rank of Cabinet Minister, shattering hopes of all other BJP candidates.
BJP coordinator Vikas Tiwari told The Pioneer, “Most of the party leaders are in Dehradun today and they would be coming to Haridwar in the form of procession cheering and meeting people on the way. The people of the city are happy and want to greet Madan Kaushik in a big way. With his becoming the Cabinet Minister, the developmental will speed up.”
In a telephonic conversation, Madan Kaushik said, “My priorities would be to make Haridwar an ideal city with better medical facilities and improvement in traffic system. More employment opportunities for the local youths by opening one Government organisation in the district with the assistance of State Government would be my top priority.”
A man of better management abilities and political knacks made Madan Kaushik legislator for the fourth time, say the political observers. Since 2013, Kaushik had begun his efforts for lok Sabha seat but in the last phase of elections, Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank was given the ticket. Having held four portfolios in the Nishank Government and 35 years of active political career, Kaushik now eyes on lok Sabha seat in the forthcoming elections.
