Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s media in-charge Surendra Kumar said on Thursday that four rural haats — one each in Pithoragarh, Derhadun, Bhimtaal and Kashipur — will come up in the State. These haats will be developed by SIIDCUl, he further revealed.
Reacting sharply to the State BJP demanding a white paper on the disaster 2013, Kumar said that the scam- tainted saffron leaders raising hue and cry over the disaster made no sense.
“They are themselves involved in disaster scams. The same band of leaders are now crying wolf. Instead of demanding white paper, the party should introspect. They have now taken the scam-tainted leaders in their warm embrace. They seem to have forgotten that they served memorandum to the President, demanding actions against them. They named them kings of scams,” Kumar said, pointing fingers at the former Congress leaders who switched to BJP without naming them.
He further said that the state government feels no need to issue a white paper on the disaster 2013. “The important fact is that around 12 lakh pilgrims have so far visited the char dhams. These figures are enough to make clear the pains the state government has taken to revamp the disaster-ravaged places. The huge footfalls are possible because we have made roads better and are able to provide the required facilities to the pilgrims,” the close aide to the CM claimed.
Speaking volume of the works the Chief Minister Harish Rawat has done for the state, he said that sure of defeat at the next hustings, the BJP leaders are concocting cock and bull stories.
Relying to the allegation made by the BJP national spokesperson saying that one lakh fake voters have sneaked their way into the electoral list, Kumar said it is sans any foundation.
“The election commission organises campaign to add new voters and delete fake voters online. Instead of going for such baseless
allegation to the media, the BJP leaders should approach the election commission
and lodge complaint,” Kumar said.
