Non governmental organisation Youth Rock Foundation has been teaching spoken English and life skills to students in Government schools in Dehradun since April. It claims that students have shown marked improvement in these skills being imparted under its project Pahal launched for bringing students, teachers and parents together in order to increase personal understanding and solve the emotional, social and academic problems these children face.
The founder of the NGO Divya Negi Ghai shared that presently the project is being implemented in two Government schools-Rajkiya Poorva Madhyamik Vidhyalaya, Rajpur Road and Dayanand Kanya Inter college Subhash Nagar, Clement Town.
This has been going on for past several months and there is a considerable improvement in their English speaking skills and awareness about career opportunities.
The NGO understands that speaking in English and awareness about career and other opportunities along with personality development is a major requirement for these students.
That is why the classes are conducted daily and expert sessions on various topics are also conducted on monthly basis.
The NGO is also running a centre in Clement Town where students are given career counselling, spoken English classes and personality development tips. Jyoti Tuteja, Pooja Kapoor, Rachna Berry and Nidhi Agarwal are some of the regular volunteers involved in this task.
