The cardiologists of the Fortis Escorts hospital here have saved the life of a man by performing ultra modern Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) angioplasty using Japanese technique.

The patient Ravindra Singh Pawar (39-years-old) working in a private life insurance company complained of severe chest pain on October 4 after which he was taken to a Cardiac centre. The doctors after doing angiography recommended immediate By-pass surgery.

The patient and his family members tried to take a second opinion as by-pass surgery at an early age is usually considered not good.

The patient was taken to the Fortis Escorts Hospital Dehradun. After few investigations, a CTO Angioplasty was planned as it was a critical case of artery blockage.

The senior cardiologist of the hospital, Dr Yogendra Singh said that the coronary artery of the patient was completely blocked and considering his young age Percutaneous transluminal CTO coronary angioplasty was planned, which is a reliable Japanese technique.

After several hours of complicated surgery, stents were implanted in his heart and finally Ravindra Singh Pawar got his heart revived, he informed. The patient was finally discharged on Monday.
