Form inter-district coordination committee to tackle dengue, CM directs DMs

Chief Minister Harish Rawat has directed all the district magistrates to form an inter-district coordination committee for taking effective measures against dengue and other rain-related ailments.

He also directed that the level of sanitation should be improved in the districts and garbage should be disposed of on a daily basis. CM said this while chairing a video conference along with Health Minister Surendra Singh Negi and the district magistrates of Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun and Haridwar and other officials concerned at the Secretariat on Monday.

Reviewing the steps being taken at the district level to control the spread of dengue, CM directed the chief medical officer and the chief city health officer to lay special focus on maintaining the level of civic sanitation in the town.

He further said that fogging should be conducted on a regular basis and swift redressal of problems like the need for facilitating storm-water drainage should be ensured.

Rawat said that the various measures being undertaken against dengue and facilities being provided by the Government should be regularly communicated to the public through newspapers so that misconceptions do not spread further in society.

Harish Rawat stressed that all necessary arrangements should be made in the hospitals for the treatment of dengue patients along with making the blood separator unit efficiently operational and ensuring the availability of blood for transfusion.

He stressed that such patients arriving at the hospitals should be provided immediate treatment and if required, they should be admitted to the hospital. Any person in need for medical attention should not be sent back without being administered the required treatment, he stressed.

Stating that beds and medicines should be adequately arranged in the Government hospitals, the CM directed the district magistrates to inspect the conditions in the hospitals themselves. The required level of coordination must be established among the various departments concerned.

In spite of adequate arrangements in the hospitals, the message about inadequate facilitation for treatment of dengue should not be spread in the public, he said.

CM also directed the director general of health to ensure that information regarding measures being taken at the state level should be made available to media persons so as to communicate the actual situation to the public.
