Members of the Forest Scientists’ Association (FoSA) of Forest Research Institute and Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) tied black bands on their arm to protest against the "indifference" of the ICFRE administration towards the issues they face in their day-to-day working.
The association has been demanding that ICFRE administration take up the issues they face, like delays of promotion if leave is taken on medical grounds, changing of DoPT norms to the disadvantage of scientists, changing service conditions to the disadvantage of scientists in their mid-career and other factors. The protesting scientists said that their association had submitted a memorandum to the ICFRE administration on May 17 stating their issues. However, they have neither got a reply nor they have been called to discuss the issues so that necessary steps can be taken to solve them at the earliest. The scientists have been pressing hard for a long time to get the issues solved.
However, ICFRE administration does not seem to be interested in taking up the issues on a priority basis. Instead, the administrative has maintained stoic silence on the demands and has chosen to ignore them, alleged the protesters.
