Published on:

The State Forest Department will maintain a positive view towards the establishment of wood-based industries in the State, said the principal chief conservator of forests Jai Raj. He said this while presiding over a meeting of the state level committee for establishment of wood based industries. It was decided in the meeting that the establishment of wood based industries will be encouraged in the State.

This will help in the State’s economic development while also generating employment opportunities. In order to do this, encouragement will be provided to the manufacture of plywood, MDF, particle board, fibre board and other such products. Even from the view point of environmental conservation, the increased use of wood is suitable.

Trees store carbon in wood and in wood products, carbon is converted into a locked state which stalls generation of carbon dioxide which is a positive scenario from the perspective of global warming.

Trees are considered to be renewable resource and in the national forest policy being prepared this year, the maximised use of wood is proposed to be end for the betterment of environment. During the state level committee meeting cases related to establishment/transfer/change of name of 23 industries was discussed and members decided to grant necessary permission.
