Pedestrians will face fewer problems and their movements will not affect the vehicular traffic so much at the busy Tehsil Chowk with the inauguration of a foot over bridge here on Monday.
Chief Minister Harish Rawat is slated to inaugurate this foot over bridge in the presence of Urban Development Minister Pritam Singh Panwar among others here on Monday noon.
It should be mentioned here that the foot over bridge project was started in November 2014 but its completion was delayed due to various factors.
Tests have already been conducted to check the escalators installed on both sides of the over bridge. According to official sources, the authorities aim to earn revenue from advertisement space on this over bridge.
If this project proves successful, other similar projects could also be undertaken in other parts of the city in the future. Another similar foot over bridge is also expected to be constructed at Darshanlal Chowk.
It is pertinent to mention here that pedestrians face a hard time and the risk of being hit by vehicles while trying to cross the road at busy intersections like the Tehsil Chowk in the State capital.
The pedestrian traffic at times also ends up disrupting the flow of vehicular traffic. Such problems are expected to be resolved with the inauguration of the foot over bridge at Tehsil Chowk on Monday.
