Food security law to benefit 61l from Aug 20, says Cong

Congress spokesperson Shilpi Arora claimed that around 61 lakh people of Uttarakhand will be benefitted with Food Security Act, which is going to be launched in the State on August 20.

She further claimed that realising its benefit Opposition parties including the BJP have been making all effort to misguide the people. During 2009 general elections, the Congress had mentioned in its manifesto that each citizen would get employment and food.

In first phase, we provided them employment opportunity through Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MNREG) schemes and now we are going to fulfil our promise about food security to each by launching food security schemes by August 20. With this implementation the BJP would not have any issue against the Congress-led UPA Government so the BJP has been making all effort to criticise the scheme. A card will issued for women head of the family and each pregnant woman and after delivery they will get free food from anganwadi for next six months.

The family would also get ration from anganwadi for their child in between six month to six years. As we know that 6-14 years old child gets a day meal in school under Mid-Day Meal Scheme.
