A day after it drizzled for sometime in some parts of Dehradun city, the weather would remain dry on Tuesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 23 ºC and 06 ºC respectively on Tuesday.
Met office report revealed that the minimum temperatures remained normal in the plains and below normal in the hills of Uttarakhand. lowest minimum temperature 0.6°C was recorded in Mukteshwar on Monday.
Met director Bikram Singh said that fog would form in the plains, especially in some parts of Nainital, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts during the next three days in morning and night hours starting from Tuesday.
At the same time, ground frost has been forecast for some parts in the hills during the next 48 hours.
By 8.30 am on Monday, light to moderate rainfall was recorded at high mountainous reaches. While 20 mm rainfall was reported in Maroda and Didihat the figure was 10 mm for Tehri, Munsiyari, Pantnagar, Badkot, Dunda, Uttarkashi, Riskhikesh, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh. Trace was, however, reported in Mukteshwar.
Singh attributed the rain to the western disturbances. Another fresh western disturbance is in the offing as a trough is likely to affect western Himalayan region from December 28 onwards, he added.
Singh said that the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 23.6ºC (three degree above the normal) and 6.3ºC (normal) in Dehradun respectively while it was 14.3ºC (one degree above the normal) and 0.6ºC (two degree below the normal) in Mukteshwar, 15.0ºC and 1.1ºC in Tehri and 23.2ºC (two degree above the normal) and 6.0ºC (normal) in Pantnagar on Monday.
Dehradun residents, though having started feeling the real cold in the nights and mornings, are, however, relishing the relative warmth of the day hours.
Following rainfall in the higher reaches, agriculture and horticulture farmers were relived. They are hoping more rainfall in coming days for the benefit of the corps they have sown.
