Five BHEl employees suspended for breaching discipline

Five employees of Bharat Heavy Electricals limited (BHEl) Haridwar were suspended by the factory administration on Friday for breach of    discipline allegedly   done   during the nation-wide strike on Wednesday.

However, the workers' unions opposed the action of the management. They demanded immediate transfer of CISF commandant.

In view of the nationwide strike called by the central trade unions on Wednesday to ventilate protest against the proposed labour laws and the like, BHEl administration called district police and CISF unit to ensure safety for the unit  and  the workers joining duty defying the strike.

However, the suspension has triggered anger among the trade unions operating there.  General secretary of Bhel Mazdoor Kalyan Parishad (BMKP) Rajvir Chauhan said that steps taken against five regular employees by the management are unjustified.

He said they had demanded immediate transfer of senior commandant of CISF unit attached to BHEl Haridwar. He also condemned the baton charge on the workers as ordered by the senior commandant Shiv Kumar.

Rajender Singh, assistant general manager, Corporate Communication, on the other hand, said that the steps had been taken on the basis of the  CCTV footages and photos published in dailies.

“We identified five employees and steps have been taken against them on the  disciplinary ground,” he added.
