In the armed robbery case that went un-reported in the month of May and only came to light after the accused were arrested in another robbery case, Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi has ordered the case to be registered on the basis of the complaint filed by Rama Singhal, wife of Alok Kumar who is a regional inspector in Dehradun Regional Transport Office (RTO).
The Dehradun SSP Arun Mohan Joshi said, “The case is being registered on the basis of the statement given by the victim. The contradiction in the statements will now be verified during the course of investigation.”
According to officials, the case is being registered at Vasant Vihar police station as the household of the victim comes under the jurisdiction of this police station.
The investigation will now include angles such as why the application of robbery was not given earlier. Why even after the claims made by the accused the victims did not come forward and filed application timely will also be investigated along with the most important aspect- what was the actual amount that was stolen on the said night.
It is pertinent to mention here that Rama Singhal submitted a complaint at the camp office of SSP Joshi regarding the robbery in their house on May 26, stating that jewellery of nearly Rs 20 lakhs and Rs 5 lakhs cash were looted by the robbers.
However, two of the accused arrested in the armed robbery case in the residence of RP Easwaran, owner of Abhimanyu Cricket Academy, claimed that they robbed Rs 1.38 crore in cash from their residence.
