The district administration may lodge an FIR against Shiva Gas Agency if the agency fails to improve supply of cooking gas to its customers, said District Food and Civil Supply officer Shyam Arya. Adequate number of cylinders are supplied to the district by the oil company but this agency has failed to improve its supply to the customers, he added.
It should be mentioned here that taking cognisance of customers’ plaints about anomalies in delivery of lPG cylinders by the Agency, the oil company had earlier shifted about 5, 000 gas connections from this agency to two other local gas agencies- Himani Gas Agency and Jaideep Gas Agency, Balawala. Not only this, the company had also imposed penalty of Rs 5.70 lakh on Shiva Gas Agency. Arya said that the department has received several complaints against the Agency. Recently, due to short supply of lPG cylinders to consumers, local residents had protested against this agency at its office.
Taking cognisance, the department officers will be deployed to inspect the agency. Based on inspection report, the administration may consider lodging an FIR against the agency, he added. According to Arya, in the past, the department had served several notices to the agency for failure to improve supply to its customers. He had also directed the oil company officers to take action against Shiva Gas Agency for anomalies in home delivery of lPG cylinders. State lPG Association president Chaman lal said that in last month, due to short supply of cylinders to the district by the company, the backlog of cylinders had increased in various gas agencies here.
