The Finland Government has prepared a modern model of the windmill which may light up the villages in the hills. For the first time in India, the successful experiment had been conducted of this model in the Masihi hospital in Chamba.
If the turbine continues to work it could offer a solution to power crisis in the hill State.
The research is being undertaken continuously on the wind energy.
This is a source of energy without creating the harmful problems of carbon production, radioactive waste or damaging the river culture. However, this energy source production has some limitations and the turbines do not work everywhere.
To solve this problem, the Finnish engineers decided to build a model which can produce energy at any terrain in less costs. After developing the design, they even built the model in a year.
This design has been installed at the Masihi Hospital in Chamba for the first time in India.
Now, the hospital would not depend on generators in times of power cuts.
This would also save hospital fund spent on the front of electricity. If the trial of the project is successful it could be handed over to the Government so that every house is lit with its help, said Dr Rajesh of Masihi Hospital, Chamba.
After a year, the design of the turbine model has been built. It produces power in relation with the speed of wind.
It is eco-friendly and every citizen can benefit from it, said Arjoo Heinsola, a engineer from Finland.
How the turbine works:
The windmill is put on the roof of the hospital. A room is converted into control room to manage the wind mill. Two 120 Ampere batteries are connected with the windmill. These are connected with converter to convert DC to AC after which the electricity can be used according to needs.
